Boongaiai Preschool

At Boongaiai Preschool our aim is to foster a love of learning and develop a sense of wonder and reverence for life in each child. Our philosophy is based on the work of Rudolf Steiner who emphasised the importance of educating the whole child, including intellectual, physical, artistic, social, and emotional wellbeing. Boongaiai provides a home-like environment where children feel safe and supported to explore our play-based and child-initiated learning. We support the developing senses of each individual through meaningful activities and natural playthings to encourage creative and social play, while enriching the child’s inner life with stories, songs, and artistic experiences.

Preschool is a welcoming and engaging space that offers children a rich tapestry of oral language experiences. With verse, song, rhymes, and stories, our experienced teachers awaken the children’s sense of wonder and ignite their imagination, creating a warm and nurturing environment that provides a solid foundation for future literacy learning. In addition, we foster a deep love of learning for curriculum areas such as maths and science by providing authentic and practical experiences that arise naturally through play and exploration of the natural world.

Boongaiai Preschool works within the Early Years Learning Framework: Belong, Being & Becoming (ACECQA, 2023) and meets the five areas of the National Quality Standards.

We offer places for 20 children per day with high staff-child ratios for children 3 to 5 years of age, and we operate 8.30am – 3.30pm during the Armidale Waldorf School term time.

Boongaiai preschool supports the NSW Governments Start Strong Guidelines for enrolments. We prioritise places for children aged four (before July 31) or five, followed by children aged three whose family holds a Health Care Card and/or who identify as Aboriginal Australian or Torres Strait Islander. For more information, please refer to our enrolment policy.
