Teaching Philosophy

Arising out of a deep understanding of child development and catering for each child’s individual temperament, Steiner education provides a balanced curriculum of intellectual knowledge, creative expression and practical experience in equal measure.

THE THREEFOLD NATURE OF THINKING

Our teachers help students develop their intellectual knowledge, creative expression and practical experience in equal measure. As a result, children grow into well-balanced individuals who think and act with independence, logic, empathy and morality.

Teachers enrich academic subjects with art, craft, music and language, which makes learning a fluid, creative process. The natural environment also plays its part in nurturing the student’s awareness of beauty.

During game time, cooperation is always emphasised over competition. Skill, teamwork and fun are considered more important than winning.

Student progress is evaluated through careful observation of all areas of development rather than through standardised tests, and success is measured by the unfolding of each child’s unique capabilities.

“Where does one find teachers of the calibre to undertake such a program? That is not easy. They have to be continually finding themselves, learning, growing, advancing from stage to stage with the help of others.

“Every year is a new adventure, an exploration, a life-renewing process. Teachers must live a life of dedicated service to the child becoming an adult.”
